Frequently Asked Questions

  • What services do you offer at Grant Veterinary Care?

We offer a wide range of services including wellness exams, vaccinations, spaying/neutering, heartworm/flea/tick prevention, dentistry, and full body x-rays.

  • Does my pet need to stay overnight after spay/neuter?

GVC is not a 24-hour facility and we do not have staff on-site overnight or on weekends. Pets can begin their recovery right in the comfort of their home with their families.

  • Does GVC require pre-op blood work?

Pre-op blood work is required for all pets who are 5 years or older receiving general anesthesia such as a spay or neuter.  Blood work is strongly recommended, but not required for pets under 5 years old.

  • How do I prepare my pet for surgery?

Please review the GVC pre-op and post-op instructions before visiting Grant Veterinary Care.

  • What are your hours of operation?

We are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 7am-2pm and Wednesday 10am-4pm.

  • How often should I bring my pet in for a check-up?

It is recommended to bring your pet in for a wellness exam at least once a year for a heartworm test and annual vaccines. This also allows us to perform a physical exam and catch any potential issues early on.

  • Is Grant Veterinary Care a walk-in/emergency clinic?

GVC is not a walk-in or emergency hospital. However, we do offer same-day surgical care (i.e. pyometra) for a sick pet during our business hours. We are NOT open on weekends or overnight.  Please take your pet to the nearest emergency hospital if you are unable to reach GVC over the phone. If your pet is experiencing a medical emergency (i.e. vomiting, lethargic) outside of GVC’s business hours, please take them to the nearest emergency hospital.

  • How much does it cost to spay/neuter my pet?

The cost of spaying/neutering varies depending on the size and age of your pet. Please see our Price List.
